Mick Harford has today named new signing Colin Murdock as new team captain, Harford told the clubs official site (themillers.co.uk) "He was a natural choice because he is an experienced player who has played at the highest level. I am sure he will be a good leader especially as we have several much younger players in the squad now and Colin is a good talker so he will help them along in the right manner."

Also speaking to the official site, Harford praised the effort and hard work of the players during training so far, "They have been working hard and things are looking quite healthy at the moment. The attitude has been first class, the lads have worked tremendously hard and in the three games that we have had so far they have shown some decent bits and pieces."

"Now I am excited and looking forward to the start of the season. There has been a lot going on behind the scenes with all the ins and outs but now the squad is more or less where we want it to be." he added, although he admitted that he was still on the lookout for Goalkeeping cover and another striker.

Looking at tonights freindly at Grimsby, Mick is wanting to concentrate on the defence and give the players a longer run. "We haven't conceded a goal so far but we haven't defended particularly well so that is something we have been working on in training. The remaining games will see players play for longer if not the full 90 minutes. he told the O/S

One player who will miss out is Michael Keane, who is in a race for fitness for the start of the season. Keane has picked up a hamstring injury in training and is expected to be out of action for 2 to 3 weeks. However Gregor Robertson and Will Hoskins are fit again after missing out last week and should feature.
