History of the Rotherham United v Northampton Town fixture

Rotherham United are ready to welcome Northampton Town to Don Valley Stadium on Tuesday evening, and hold the advantage on previous meetings between the two. Of the 16 games played, The Millers have recorded 8 wins, and Northampton have come away with 6 victories.

The previous match played between the two was more than three years back at Millmoor, in September 2006, with Northampton inflicting a narrow 1-2 defeat upon The Millers in a League One match. The Millers have failed to beat the Cobblers in their past five outings, stretching back almost 9 years.

Recent respective form guides

Rotherham United are not in the best of form at home, with two wins, two draws, and two defeats in their last six. The goals for column just outweighs the goals against over this period, 8 to 7.

The away form of Northampton however, is much more impressive, tasting just one defeat in their last six, and picking up four good wins. The games have constituted a decent return of 11 goals for the Cobblers, and 5 goals against.

With both teams in the play-off pack but the Millers struggling badly with four back to back losses, it's the visitors who go into the game as favourites.

Team News..
Rotherham boss Ronnie Moore will choose from Drewe Broughton and Craig McAllister to partner Adam Le Fondre in attack.

Full back Dale Tonge and forward Tom Pope are out for the season but Gavin Gunning could return after being rested following International U19 duty with Ireland. Paul Warne and Kevin Ellison may also be in contention for starting places.

Cobblers winger Liam Davis is a doubtful after missing the 1-0 defeat by Notts County on Saturday. Striker Adebayo Akinfenwa is unlikely to play with an ankle problem, otherwise they are nearly at full strength.
