The 10th Anniversary WorldNET was held at The University Of Leeds' Bodington Hall over the weekend of 15th/16th/17th July. There were 64 entries from IFA teams for this year's event with squads of up to 22 players.
Around 8pm just about everyone in the squad had arrived and checked in. While the late arrivers finished up getting showered a few of the lads decided to sink a few more beers in the hotel bar.
An early start at 9am versus Scunthorpe would be followed by a friendly against Sports Interactive, a group match versus Crewe and finally a group decider against Coventry.
In our one and only friendly of the tournament IMFC took to the pitch with an average age of nearly 50 and that includes young lads like Symon and Chris! Dazza, Malcolm, Mike all found their way onto the pitch bearing the IMFC badge on their chest.
The management decisions had been made and it was now time to go prove our worth in this tournament. With Jammer and Chris Grist performing well in the friendly they were handed a shirt in the starting lineup.
After finally waking up IMFC were back on form and ready to take on a Coventry side who beat a weakened IMFC squad in a friendly last year on astro turf.
After congratulations to the team on a good days work after a very poor start all the litter around our camp was picked up and binned and all dirty kit collected.
Come late in the evening everyone was absolutely starving! Last year we booked out a Chinese restaurant and it was superb food at excellent value. We decided to stick with the same restaurant and it wasn't to disappoint!
Upon leaving the restaurant the group split up into those who fancied going to the livelier Royal Oak and those that wanted a few decent pints of ale in the Arcadia.
The Millers went into this game with much more purpose. Right from the start there was a lot of shouting and organizing from the back line to the midfield.
Man United had some strong looking players and one or two with lightening fast feet. If IMFC were to win this game they needed to be organised and hit the Red Devils hard and fast on the counter.
A similar side was picked except Chris Grist up front for Mr Burns and Dan came in at LB for the shattered Duds. The Forest team looked menacing even before kick off.
Paul Elliott who had played superbly in the back line for the past 4 games just didn't have anything left in the legs. Consequently, Duds came back into the starting line up for the final at left back and Dan partnered Denti in the centre of defence.
After nearly killing Symons girlfriend, Fliss, who was stuck at the bottom of a pile on the IMFC lads picked themselves up and went to give thanks to the QPR lads for a wonderful final that had absolutely everything.
