Saturday 28th July

The Millers make their first appearance of the new pre season at Millmoor when they take on local neighbours Barnsley. In a tight game, Rotherham put in a pleasing performance and get a 1-1 draw with Stephan Brogan getting a late equaliser.

Starting XI: Warrington, Brogan, Tonge, Coughlan, Sharps, P. Holmes, Todd, Harrison, Hudson, D.Holmes, O'Grady.

Monday 30th July

Boss Mark Robins speaks out about his satisfaction at Saturday's performance: "I'm very pleased with another 90 minutes under the belt. A lot of the players have played a full 90 minutes and are match fit. I think it was a good work out for both sides." he told www.themillers.co.uk

The former Man Utd man also said he there is room to introduce more new faces to his squad. "
It remains to be seen, it depends on performances and how we go on, we'll just keep an open mind."

Tuesday 31st July

Former Millers captain, Colin Murdock signs for Shrewsbury Town following his summer release from Millmoor. The Northern Irish man had a difficult time at Rotherham but will face them next season in League Two.

MillersMAD announce that once again it will continue to put it's profits in to the club with the confirmation that it will sponsor Stephan Brogan's home and away kit and also Ryan Taylor's home kit with the scope for further sponsorship later in the season.

Signing number 11 arrives at Millmoor with Steven Cann penning a permanent deal at the club following a successful trial period. The South African born stopper was released by Derby County earlier in the summer and will come as initially an understudy to Andy Warrington.

A second appearance at Millmoor takes place when Sheffield United visit for another friendly. Both teams observe a minute's silence in respect of Danny Bergara before a spicy game where tackles fly in. The game ends 0-0 but new signing Mark Hudson is carried off with a serious looking knee injur

Wednesday 1st August

Rotherham announce Mick Priest as their new youth development manager. Priest, a former Man Utd academy man has been reponsible for the emergence of Paul Scholes, Gary Neville and David Beckham before more recently being at Oldham.

Gaffer Mark Robins is pleased with his sqaud after yet another draw against Sheffield United: "I think we played well and defended well even though they gave us problems at times. We look solid all over the pitch." he told www.themillers.co.uk

A mainly youthful team travels to Belper and it was yet another game that ended in a draw with Cann, Mills, Taylor and Fleming the only first teamers involved.

Thursday 2nd August

Bad news emerges when it's revealed that Mark Hudson will miss up to six weeks following the knee injury he sustained in the team's 0-0 draw with Sheffield United. A scan shows medial ligament damage which could mean surgery for the former Huddersfield man.


Friday 3rd August

The club announce that they are expecting to break to 2000 season ticket sales barrier and have already sold more than last year. Interest in new signings and optimism around the club are cited as the reasons. "
It's a fantastic response and really shows the optimism around the place at the moment." Millers director Gary Hall told the Advertiser.

Ex Millers striker Deon Burton looks as if he will be allowed to play when his old team visits Millmoor in the Carling Cup later this month. He was sent off in pre season friendly for Wednesday and looked set to receive a two game ban.

Danny Harrison will be fit for the visit of Hartlepool United after he has overcome a thigh injury sustained in last wee's draw with Barnsley. The former Tranmere man looks set to replace the injured Mark Hudson.
