Captain Marvel

A dependable and solid team has a despendable and solid captain. Over the years the club has had some memorable captains that have help the club succeed. Recently though, the captain's armband has resemebled a pass the parcel package with no stand out candidate.

With an appointment for this season still to be made, we look at who is likely to be in the frame to get the gig.

Andy Warrington

With over 250 appearances under his belt, the 31 year old certainly has the experience and maturity required of a captain. Supposed qualities of Warrington include reliability and calmness and these too would make the good attributes of a captain. However, you don't see many goalkeeping captains and it's hard to rally the troops from behind them but could make a better vice captain than captain.

Graham Coughlan

Within minutes of his signing, Coughlan was identified as the man the fans want to captain the team next year. He is also very experienced, nearing 300 first team appearances with many at a higher level than he will be playing at with Rotherham. A clear organiser and talker, the Irish man is not afraid to get hurt for his team and will almost certainly lead by example. An ideal candidate and a virtual nailed on certainty. Start measuring that arm!

Mark Hudson

Hudson is a former Premiership midfielder who has captaincy experience at League Two rivals Chesterfield. Once a box to box creative midfielder it was at Huddersfield where Hudson became more of a holding player enabling him to show off his fine passing ability. Hudson will undoubtedly be in the thick of the action in the middle of the park and could be the man to lead the team.

Andy Todd

A potentially surprise candidate as this will be only Todd's second season in league football but having played every game last season for Accrington Stanley the 28 year old will be an asset in League Two. Tall and athletic Todd will be an important part of Rotherham's midfield next season. Being out on the wing could count against Todd but he should be in Mark Robins' thoughts.

Derek Holmes

Mark Robins and fans alike will be hoping that Holmes is the lump up front that the team have been missing since Alan Lee's departure in 2003. At 28, Holmes is another player with over 200 games in their bank and will play a pivotal role in Rotherham's quest for success this season. His style of play could see him take on tallismanic status and land the armband.
