To Sum It All Up? - NastyMiller

With “It would have been awful to have partied on a sour note – with Ronnie of all people.” Ringing in our ears what does it mean to a fan like me?

Well to be fair I have the feeling I had way back in the 1987-1988 season, when I decided to get on the bus and go to watch Rotherham United Football Club! I was 13 years old and I was off to the football match on my own, my family hates football so off I went. All my mates at school were Sheff Wed fans, and I wanted to be different.

Getting the bus from Wath, I was on my mini-adventure – all excited I was going to watch Rotherham. I can’t remember much of it really. I sat on the railings in between the dug outs, listening to the dug outs barking their orders.

Walking back to the bus station so many thoughts were going through my head, when’s the next match? How do I go to an away game? Who was the man who had just scored four goals.

Getting back in the house all I could talk about was Rotherham this, Rotherham that.

You know what, I feel exactly that way again today!

I was one of the Ronnie out gang, and for anyone who has followed the message boards for the last 7 years or so will know that I (nastymiller) have wanted Ronnie out for at least the last 4 years. It’s not that I dislike the bloke, but I just think he came along when football was on its arse and just milked it for all he could.

Today I’m not thinking great “he’s gone”, I’m thinking, “great when’s the next match? Where is the next away game?”

For me, I now think when my boys, Elliott 4 and Jake 1 get older they will be going to watch a team, that will be run like a business, with a new ground and new shirts, jackets etc…. I honestly think the future is great. I’m so happy!

Reading the message boards, I understand the anger by certain fans. I made a stand against the Booth machine, and stopped going to home games. We all have a choice, lets just listen to each other’s opinions and do as I did make a choice.

One thing that’s certain, all the Millers fans that are going to protest – I think we have all seen the Rotherham protests before. Have a whinge and a moan, lets get behind the boys on Saturday against Forest.

Who knows we might even stay up!
