Pies, seats and administration (part3)

So here we are. We've survived the close season, we've trimmed the wage bill, we've knocked down the old stand and we've squeezed the fans until their pips squeaked.

We've also seriously pigged off our regular Main Stand Meldrews and we've installed caterers that charge more for our basic Pukka.

Fans helped
It's all in the balance. The season has to start well or the demon called cashflow will rise from his slumbers wanting his midnight fry-up. The road to survival leads to a fork in the road, success on the pitch and we survive long enough to reap the benefits of the New Stand revitalisation, failure on the pitch however gives the demon a wake up call.

Now here's the worrying bit. Lets say that the league season starts slowly and we also have early exits from the Cup competitions. Attendances will fall and even the most committed will be wondering about the wisdom of buying a brick and standing in the rain. The cashflow demon awakes again, so how do we feed him this time?

Options are limited. The fans have paid up, the new caterers have paid up, sponsors will have the delights of the enclosure so will be difficult to attract, the new kit sales have peaked and the new Rotherbird can't after all lay golden eggs.
Tiv out of action

Add to this the gloom of limited access to the Tivoli bar, the Millmoor Hotel closed, the Moulders closed and no club car park. Given good results and we will ignore the negatives, but given bad results and the burden looks too heavy to carry.

Behind all this we have club bankers that won't give loans or credit and also we apparently haven't got Board members with enough free cash to play saviour. So how do we pay the bills? if it all goes pear shaped where will the cash come from? Who will ride to the rescue if administration beckons?

In my mind there is only one man that might do this, and we've had him before, but this time when he saves the club he will also own the ground as well.

You don't need me to tell you his name.
Doesn't bear thinking about does it?

So what's the answer now that you've bought your brick, season ticket and new shirt?

The answer is giving your support. Times are very hard; negativity will kill us, pray for good results and cheer the lads on.

The alternative is too frightening.
