Feisty Millers outplay Yeovil - Hodgeys Report

Last updated : 03 December 2006 By Bigrich.....

Will Hoskins put in another scintillating display for the reds, as he created and scored the Rotherham winner from the spot, a day after it was reported that Scottish giants Celtic were keeping tabs on him.

Glovers skipper Terry Skiverton had a game to forget, after he scored an own goal and conceded a penalty to make matters worse.

A brilliant first half saw both teams clock up 5 goals between them. Wonder kid Will Hoskins floated a ball across the box, where Delroy ‘The Tank' Facey rose highest to power a header home.

Just 2 minutes later things got worse for Yeovil as a low Martin Woods cross was turned into his own net by Glovers captain Terry Skiverton. But Rotherham couldn't hold on to the well-earned lead…

2 Yeovil goals saw in 5 minutes saw the Millers pegged back to 2 all. Former West Ham midfielder Chris Cohen getting one, and Lee Morris getting the second.

Rotherham were holding their own against the boys from Somerset, and took the lead through leading scorer Will Hoskins. Hoskins darted past a couple of Yeovil defenders before Terry Skiverton brought Hoskins down. But Hoskins dusted him self off to slide the ball down the middle and into the back off the net, under the Tivoli where the Rotherham faithful went absolutely mental!

Half Time: Millers 3-2 Yeovil Town

There was slight controversy during the second half, as it is believed that a coin was thrown from a Rotherham fan sitting in the Millmoor Lane stand in the direction of the linesman. It is thought that the linesman picked up the coin and told referee Carl Boyeson, who then began to shout at the Millmoor Lane fans. Soon after a few Rotherham stewards began milling around the scene with their walkie-talkies.

Coin throwing is something that needs to be kicked out of the game, in recent weeks Fulham's Claus Jensen, Arsenal's Robin van Persie and in the game between Newport County and Swansea 4 th official Alan Sheffield, from Wallsall was hit with a coin and subsequently left the field on a stretcher. Rotherham United FC should look further into this incident in my opinion.

Back to the football and the game ended 3-2, and in a nail biting last few minutes Yeovil missed a great chance. But the Millers held out for a win. The Tivoli was jumping come the final whistle.

My MOTM: Martin Woods- He sprayed the ball about well in midfield wasn't scared to get stuck in, and it was his cross that led to Rotherham's second goal. His set pieces looked dangerous throughout.

Delroy Facey and Will Hoskins also had solid games.

Up The Millers!
