Worldnet 2005 – A Story of Champions

Last updated : 28 July 2005 By Bigrich.....

Background

Friday the 15th kicked off the weekend with the IFA Cup final between Ayr and Fulham. Saturday the 16th saw a series of games between sixteen groups of competing teams; the winners and runners-up from all groups, automatically qualify for day two of the Sports Interactive Cup. The 3rd and 4th placed teams from all groups went into the Plate Competition.

Both 32 team tournaments on Sunday 17th adopted an FA Cup style format i.e. a sudden death knockout competition. The matches were 15 minutes each way played more or less according to normal FA rules.

To win the tournament requires a gruelling effort of at least 240 minutes of football within 48 hours, with extra time this could be as high as 290 minutes!

This review goes into detail about both the football and social events the Internet Millers went through in a weekend that made these Rotherham United fans champions of European Supporters.
