Sports Interactive 2:1 Rotherham

The game was played in good spirits and it was mentioned before hand that the result should have no bearing on the squad’s motivation going into the next group game. That said the old guard was supplemented by some strong IMFC squad players who were out to prove a point to get time on pitch in group games. This proved to be the case in the first half as some good work by Jammer saw Chris Grist slipped in and he fired home past the keeper to put the Millers 1-0 up.

Denti anchored the defence and even though Sports Interactive was on top for the majority of the game the Millers kept them at bay for large periods. When called upon Skip did some great saves and could do nothing with the two inevitable Sports Interactive goals.

Moment of the match was “Father Christmas” Malcolm turning and megging a youthful SI winger and then playing a fine ball down the line. However, in the end SI ran out 2-1 winners which in all honesty was a fair result.

Getting back on track

Despite the friendly not meaning much, IMFC had played 2 games and not yet won which is in stark contrast to our start to the tournament last year where we won the opening two games. It was time to get back on track and down to business and unfortunately for Crewe they were in line for a backlash from the poor performance against Scunthorpe.
