1) Shark – a superb tournament and hit form at the right time going into Worldnet. Defining moments are the pen save against Lincoln, world class save against Forest and the amazing pen save in golden goal extra time of final. Well done Sharky!

2) Skip – Coached Shark all tournament giving him tips and ideas. In his friendly against Sports Interactive Skip showed he can still be a very capable keeper pulling off some great saves. Being one of the founding members it was fitting that Skip was there to see us lift the cup.

3) Duds – An absolute gem in the social side and overall a very solid tournament. Duds is a really touch tackling defender that is really difficult to get past, wherever he played throughout the weekend he did exactly what was asked of him and blocked that area of the field up.

4) Denti – A contender for man of tournament once again this year with his superb tackling, dominance in the air and quick feet to clear any possible danger. In my opinion his passing was also a level higher than usual in this tournament with his long ranged balls into the forwards being a good source of counter attack. MOTM in final and a well deserved award.

5) Paul Elliot – For me Paul was one of the heroes of the tournament. He’s the first to admit he doesn’t have the movement of his younger years but his commanding of the backline, experience and no nonsense tackling galvanized the defence in times of need. He knows how to motivate people in those times of need and as usual proved a gem on the social side on the nights out. A great tourney.

6) Yeard – Provided a strong contribution in the first game against Scunny where at times IMFC were playing very poorly and a lot of pressure was put on the back 3. It was a shame Yeard got sun stroke and had to go home on Sunday because he has proved himself as a great addition to the squad in defence.

7) Jebu – Played as both a striker and right back but was a main stay in day 2 of the tournament as part of the defence that went unbeaten for so long. Had a great game against Coventry up front but proved his ability as a full back with no one getting past him on the right side all tourny. Often acting as a second man behind the first defender, he blocked up any possible space for forwards/wingers to run into and brought some more clear communication to the back line.

8) Dan – Just come back from a dislocated knee so there was concerns about match fitness but Dan proved he’s a naturally fit person and played in a host of different positions throughout the tournament. As usual gave 100% and gave a bit of extra bite to the team.

9) Jonny – Came on day two and got a run out against Darlington. Has been a long time member of the team and glad to have him along.

10) Mike – Grist himself got a run out against SI and did a half decent job down that side. Obviously lacking a bit of movement and speed but definitely has a footballers brain! Also provided excellent support all throughout the tournament towards the team.

11) Malcolm – Father Christmas as he was nicknamed gave one of the defining moments of the friendly as the old head megged a youthful winger and played a ball up the line!

12) Dazza – Our fitness coach and Physio showed he can still run about like a young un in the friendly! Worked hard all game in the game against SI and a man mountain off the pitch in sorting out injuries and getting/keeping people fit.

13) Andy P – Defining moment was the steady and calm way he fired home the pen that got us past the tricky 2nd round tie. Was steady as can be all tourney and put in some good tackles down the left side of midfield. Our new manager to be next season came into the tourney with a bad fever but it certainly didn’t affect his game.

14) Gaz Elliot – A real warrior throughout the entire weekend. Suffering from an eye disease that on the Saturday almost threatened to sideline him for the whole tournament. Due to his all action approach to the game picked up numerous injuries but still battled through. Gaz is also one of the players in the side with that extra bit of quality for picking a pass/cross and that shone through on many occasions. If Gaz is able to play for IMFC all next season it will be a massive boost to the squad.

15) Jammer – The youngest of the Elliott’s and had a superb tournament. Was battling with Andy Parker for a position in day 1 of the tournament but the change in tactics and move up front in the 2nd day was relished by Jammer. His chasing down of defenders was immense and acted as the first line of defence for the team. Takes a calm penalty and also got onto the score sheet against Darlington.

16) Lee – Last year Lee didn’t get much time on the pitch so the fact he played the majority of the games at this tournament goes to show how far he has progressed as a player. By no means is he a big strapping tough tackler but Lee proved hes’ an awkward player to get past and he has added some upper body strength to enable him to win challenges in the air. His real quality comes with his calmness and ability to lay simple passes on to get IMFC attacking. Was up for any challenge ahead of him and can consider it a good tournament.

17) JV – Was outstanding in a number of the games, particularly against Coventry, Darlington and Crewe where his classic wing play took teams to pieces. In the tighter games where IMFC had to defend JV showed the other side to his game as a winger, discipline in providing support to Jebu down the right hand side. Overall a good tournament for JV who popped up with some great goals that underlies his strength in attacking.

18) Chris – Whereas Chris didn’t get as much time on the pitch as other players I thought he had a solid tournament and deserved at least one goal in the group game versus Crewe. His performance in the Crewe game showed he can hold the ball up well and link play and we all know he has the natural predatory instinct in the box as showed versus SI in the friendly. Was also impressed with his attitude versus Forest in the semi final where he did his best to tire down the opposition before being replaced by Burnsy at half time.

19) Symon – Looking back over the recordings of the weekend it was clear that Symon’s attitude to the weekend was spot on. As with Chris he didn’t get as much time on the pitch as others but his support to the team was never ending. When he did get on the playing field I thought Symon was solid and proved he can come in at either wingback, winger or up front. Scored a cracker against Crewe.

20) Burnsy – Without a doubt the man of the tournament for IMFC. The defence gave the team the platform to work from but it was the 12 goals that ultimately fired us to victory. Deserved the success in this tournament as the big man has consistently proved he can score goals in games when it matters and this was his biggest stage so far. His finishing is clinical and he reads the game so well that he’s always a step ahead of the defenders before they start reacting. Well done Mr Burns on a superb tournament.
