Grant started refereeing at 15 years old, he joined the National list of Assistant Referees in 1992, stepping up to the National List of Referees in 2001.He was an assistant referee for the 1999 FL Trophy Final at Wembley.
Last time Grant reffed a Millers match was the 1-0 defeat at Wycombe in February 2008, the game saw Jamie Green come off the bench to make his Millers debut.
