Man in the Middle - Port Vale

Last updated : 02 April 2010 By Duke

Mark started refereeing in 1989 and was appointed to the FIFA International Referees list in 2000, he was also one of the referees included in the Select Group Referees on its formation in 2001.

Mark was due to make his return to football league refereeing this week in the midweek Accrington v Barnet fixture after his throat cancer scare, but his only task was to call the game off due to a waterlogged pitch. So it's the Millers game with Port Vale that will be an emotional return for Mark.

After entering remission it's been a battle to regain his fitness and MillersMAD add their best wishes to all the others Mark has received. Mark we are sure you would expect nothing to be any different than as before, and you will still be getting some stick if the crowd don't quite agree with a decision you make!

The last game Mark refereed involving the Millers was last season's League Cup match with Stoke City when despite a tremendous backing of more than 2,500 travelling fans the Millers went down to a 2-0 defeat.

Running the lines will be Gary Beswick (Co. Durham) along with Andrew Smith (West Yorkshire)

The Fourth Official is Jason Tyas (West Yorkshire)
