Man in the Middle - Northampton Town

Last updated : 22 November 2010 By Duke

Rob Lewis from Shropshire.

ref bigRob took charge of nearly 50 league matches up to the end of the 2007-08 season before an eight month injury lay off cost him his coveted place on the National list of Referees.

Rob has spent the last couple of seasons running the line in the Premier League and refereeing in the Conference.

Back in 2005 Rob was the linesman who 'missed' the Pedro Mendes goal for Spurs at Old Trafford when the 'goal' was dissallowed even though the ball had clearly crossed the line.

Defending his positioning at the time, Rob told the B.B.C. "The Spurs player shot from distance and I was doing my primary job which was to stand in line with the last defender and watch for an offside. There was nothing I could have done differently apart from run faster than Linford Christie!!"

Since his return this season Rob has refereed 9 Games issuing 22 Yellows but no Red Cards.

Running the lines will be Chris Kavanagh (Lancashire) along with Darren Bond (Lancashire)

The Fourth Official David Benton (South Yorkshire)
