Caption Competition 07-08 Round One Results

In a new points system that makes it all the more enjoyable for all involved we have a leader that is already five points ahead of second place and a whopping 14 ahead of bottom!

Caption Comp stalwart stevelmu09 is the first winner of the 07/08 season with his effort "Man Utd's tie against Inter was put in jeapordy when Adrian Mutu sneezed". Steve has been there or there abouts for the whole life of this competition but has always failed to go on and win it. With a start like this he will be hoping that this could be his year!!

Don't forget it's the top six entries as marked by our judges that will get staggered points and Bigladonos finished behind Steve to get 10 points. Scunnymiller, miller4ever, london_born_miller and snackajack were also all judged to have provided enough humour to warrant the extra points.

It seems odd that Time For Ale is so keen for the results to be announced considering his all round averageness at this competition! A poor debut season for the big lad last year and a very inconspicuous start this!

A big welcome back to Markthemiller who has been very sadly absent from this competition for a while. Mark will have been delighted that the double rounds have been scrapped as his poor record in these were the start of a chain of events that actually ended up with him receiving a visit from the Samaritans. He lost his head but with this stress free format and no need to perform on a certain round, Mark could enjoy a prosperous year.

Obviously not much washing up to do in UFO's house as she entered the competition twice in this round. Competitors are of course only allowed one entry so her first effort, a pretty shammy one, was accepted as her official entry. With Foo flagging the flag for the notion that women can be funny, it's no surprise that the world of comedy is a male dominated scene!!

It's only week one in a long competition though so anything can happen. There is plenty of time for people to find their wit and humour or failing that turn on the judges and accuse them of corruption!
