Millers on the March to: Morecambe

Last updated : 14 August 2008 By Deano
So, our first league away jaunt of the League Two campaign for 08/09 gets underway this Saturday, or Friday for some of us doing a two nighter.

We gather most Millers on the duration will plump for the Blackpool stop over, but whether you're going for the weekend or simply on the day, we've got the lowdown on the Shrimps.

Mark Robins' boys will be looking to address last season's 5-1 mauling, at a time when the club had just entered administration. Around 500 backed the lads that day, and it might be another wet and windy encounter looking at the weather forecast. Christie Park holds just over 6,000, with only 1,200 seats. Millers fans are housed in the Umbro end, which holds around 1,500. There are limited seats available in one section of the main stand also.

Where to booze and fill your belly
The York hotel is where we drank last season, which serves food, has sky TV and is around a 15 minute walk tops up Lancaster Road. There are planty of boozers along the sea front, if you fancy wandering further afield.

There is a decent fish and chip shop on the corner of the ground, or you can opt for the lone burger van (personally I wouldn't!) which stands infront of you as you go through the turnstiles.

Directions and by train...
Leave the M6 at junction 34 taking the A683 towards Lancaster then the A589 - Morecambe. Go across the two roundabouts you approach following signs for Lancaster Road. Turn into this road and the ground is at the bottom on your left hand side. Street parking is available and limited parking near the away end.

Morecambe central station is a 20 minute walk, and is served by connecting trains from Lancaster.

MillersMAD wish everyone a safe journey and an enjoyable day/weekend.
